What is Hands to the Plow?
Living amidst small communities, it doesn’t take much of a drive to start seeing farm fields and preparation for another season of plowing, planting, and produce producing – all of which we benefit from. Today, the average farmer produces enough food to feed 166 Americans and many worldwide. How does this happen? It happens because the farmer year-after-year keeps his “hand to the plow!” In Luke 9:62 Jesus made an interesting statement about plowing. "No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God." Jesus understood farming, that if you were going to feed people, a farmer had to keep his focus ahead on plowing, planting, and gathering the produce. Here at New Hope we have been committed to bringing the Good News of Jesus to East Central Minnesota and beyond since 2004 and in this unique season God is calling us to do one thing: “continue” with our hands to the plow. Because of this we will be seeking to add to our general fund $450,000 over the next two years.
